This 'n That...

There are always things that don't fit into the everyday activities of a business; and it is no different at The Cottage.  Here is a listing of other resources and the various organizations we belong to.  Also included is some information about the special things that we do to "give back."

Other Resources...

My business neighbor, Sara has a website for her business, Blooms 'n Lattes.  Sara and I work together on many projects and events throughout the year.  You'll want to see what she's up to.

Organizations, etc...

Beresford Chamber of Commerce

The Chamber of Commerce has several events throughout the year  in support of the member businesses and in appreciation for the residents of our community.

The 3/50 Project
Save your local economy...three stores at a time.  That's the motto of The 3/50 Project.

Think about which 3 independently owned stores you'd miss most if they were gone.  Stop in, say hello, and pick a little something up.  That's how they stay around.

If just half the employed U.S. population spent $50 each month in independently owned stores, their purchases would generate $42,629,700,000 in revenue.*

Pick 3.  Spend 50.  Save your local economy!

Contributing to Others...

On-going:  We take contributions of quality used books in good condition and offer them for sale here at The Cottage at less than half their original price.  All the proceeds from the sale of these books is donated.  Beresford After Prom, Faith in Action Food Pantry, and the Beresford Library all benefit.

Thank you from Library Thank you so much for thinkng of the library.  We appreciate your donation!  It helps with prizes for summer reading or towards a computer for educational games for the kids.  We appreciate The Cottage and all you do for Beresford and the Library.

2011 - During this years' Autumn Spectacular we collected food for the Beresford Food Pantry. Thanks to our great customers who donated!

HoliDazzle 2011 gave us another opportunity to contribute to The Susan G. Koman Breast Cancer Foundation by hosting The Mitten Sisters. These talented gals create darling mittens out of discarded wool sweaters with all proceeds going to the foundation. The mittens were a big hit with our customers!

Book Signing w/Tom Roberts was held the middle of December. Mr. Roberts book, The Little Lost Sock was written and sold as a fundraiser for the Children's Home Society. We were thrilled to contribute to this very worthy cause.

2010 - Caring 4 Kids Week was held in October - customers had the opportunity to choose a daycare or preschool in Beresford & The Cottage gave a percentage of their purchase to the organization of their choice.  Five not-for-profits that care for the children of our community benefited from this effort that was sponsored jointly with Blooms 'n Lattes.

2009 - The Cottage hosted another Book Signing to kick off our 4th Annual HoliDazzle!  Tom Roberts, author of the children's book, "Santa's Prayer" signed copies of his book.  All proceeds from the sale of the books benefit Children's Home Society.

2007 - 2010 - Along with our neighboring business, Blooms 'n Lattes, we sponsor a Block Party & Farmer's Market in August each year giving the opportunity for local people to sell their home-crafted, home-made, and home-grown products.  There is no charge for them to take part.  Area residents enjoy the opportunity to come together to socialize and to purchase from their neighbors.

2008 - A Book Signing event at our HoliDazzle provided a lot of interest as area mothers and grandmothers came to purchase the book "Floppy Cat" by author, Kari Kay.  20% of the book sales was donated to the Watchpuppy PreSchool to provide a special opportunity for the children that attend.  Watchpuppy serves fee-based, special needs and Head Start children.

2007 & 2008 - Special "Girlfriends Events" were held and the sale of tote bags (2007) and mugs (2008) provided funds that were donated to Susan G. Komen for the Cure - Imagine life without breast cancer!
